The Wallach Art Gallery is presently open only to visitors from the Columbia University community who have completed the required protocols for returning to campus, including a COVID-19 diagnostic test and a daily symptom self-check. Reservations are required.

How do I make a reservation? Are they free?

Reservations can be made free of charge here. We recommend that you plan ahead. Reservation windows fore each date will close at 10 am of that day. If you plan on visiting with a friend or colleague, please ensure that each individual visitor secures their own individual reservation. Each individual needs to have completed Columbia University’s required protocols to enter the gallery.

Can I make a reservation on-site if I missed the reservation window?

Due to the limited capacity for this exhibit, we do not encourage walk-ups. If there is capacity at a given hour and the visitor has met all the safety clearance protocols, we will do our best to accommodate. If you arrive more than 30 minutes following the hour, you may be required to wait until the beginning of the hour.

Why do I have to make a timed reservation? 

A timed reservation system has been instituted in order to ensure the number of visitors present in the gallery at any given time does not exceed the capacity we have determined necessary to support social distancing. Additionally, the system facilitates contact tracing should we learn that a visitor may have possibly been exposed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus during their time in the gallery.

Reservation slots are one hour each. You are welcome to reserve for up to two consecutive hours. 

Is the Wallach available for group visits?

The gallery is open to group visits of up to six persons at this time provided that the group will not exceed our overall occupancy limits and individual reservations are available. Each person will be required to fill out a separate reservation to enter the gallery. A gallery attendant is available to provide a brief overview of the exhibition only. Everyone in the group must observe our COVID-19 protocols. 

What is the Wallach doing to keep visitors safe?

The Wallach is committed to the well-being of our visitors. A number of guidelines and protocols have been instituted to help ensure their safety during the pandemic. These include:

-a timed reservation system
-mandatory mask wearing
-a physical distancing policy

We have also removed stationary benches, headphones, and other surfaces that could facilitate the transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Light-weight portable stools are available for use upon request. Hand sanitizing stations are present in the 6th floor lobby and the gallery staff will frequently disinfect common touch points.

Is the Wallach hosting any public programming?

The gallery has a robust schedule of virtual programming planned around the exhibition. A schedule of the Wallach’s online events can be found here.

In-person public programming, however, has been temporarily been suspended until such a time that we can safely welcome larger audiences.
